Wolverines Ascend to No. 1 as Huskies Storm to Second

The real mover, though, is the Huskies. UConn catapulted from seventh to second on the strength of a 34-6 campaign, leapfrogging the Wildcats (36-3), who held steady-ish at third after dropping one spot. And don't sleep on the Fighting Illini, who surged eight spots from 13th to fifth — the biggest climb of any ranked team. The Volunteers deserve a curtain call too, jumping 11 spots from 23rd to 12th.

The poll's bottom half tells a gentler story. The Cavaliers tumbled from 9th to 17th, the Bulldogs slid from 12th to 18th, and the Badgers barely hung on at 25th after sitting 19th.
